Bed Bug Supply Review - see what our experts have to say about this product
We've been waiting a long time for a bed bug steamer like the Vaporetto to enter the market. For years, shoppers on a tight budget have been forced to compromise for a much smaller and weaker steam option if they can't afford the leading models. Worse yet, they may skip the steamer completely and risk compromising their bed bug treatment!
Thankfully, Polti has the answer with their new Vaporetto Smart 40 bed bug steamer. The Vaporetto combines much of the power and capacity of class-leading steamers like the MR-100 Primo with some of the compactness and budget-friendliness of smaller handheld steamers. Weighing in at just 11 pounds, the Vaporetto is able to deliver steam of over 200 degrees for up to 60 minutes between refills. Try doing that with a handheld steamer or a department store steam mop!
Product Information
The Polti Vaporetto Smart 40 is the perfect balance of power and ergonomics. Its uniquely compact body houses a heavy-duty stainless steel boiler with an integrated heating element capable of temperatures of over 200 degrees. This rapid heat delivery ensures that no bed bug or egg touched by its steam will survive.
Thanks to its advanced boiler and its 230-degree heat output, the Vaporetto Smart 40 can consistently deliver steam over 200 degrees from the tip. This can kill bed bugs of all ages instantly, including unhatched eggs. This powerful steam can even penetrate into soft materials to kill bed bugs hiding inches beyond the steam gun's tip.
The Vaporetto isn't just for killing bed bugs: it's designed to be a cost-effective and powerful home cleaning tool. With its included range of attachments, the Vaporetto is perfectly equipped to clean and sanitize throughout your home. This includes your sofa, tile grout, cooking surfaces, vehicle upholstery, and more.

How to Kill Bed Bugs with the Vaporetto Steamer:
Bed bugs are highly susceptible to heat -- exposure to 120 degrees will kill them in minutes, but 180-degree heat will kill them on contact. This includes adult bed bugs, juveniles, and eggs alike. This vulnerability makes steaming a highly effective part of a bed bug treatment process, as it allows you to quickly cut down the bed bug population no matter where they might be hiding.
The Vaporetto is extremely powerful, and will have no problem penetrating into various materials and deliver lethal heat to bed bugs hiding inside. Using its steam adjustment feature, you can tune the steam pressure for different materials and treatment areas.
For mattresses, sofas, and other upholstered fabrics, use the bed bug tool, a cotton cover, and low pressure. This maximizes heat concentration and eliminates excess moisture and pressure. For cracks and crevices like baseboards, floorboards, windowsills, and more, switch to the jet tip tool. Use high pressure for door frames and windowsills, and medium pressure for mouldings and the edges of the carpet. Remember to move the steam nozzle slowly - no more than about one inch per second - to ensure that the heat is distributed consistently.

Use the jet tip tool and medium pressure to treat baseboards, floorboards, and the edges of carpeted floors.

Wrap the bed bug tool with a cotton cover to break up excess pressure and moisture to focus the heat on bed bugs hiding in upholstered furniture.

Turn the pressure up to penetrate into cracks and crevices along furniture edges, windowsills and door frames with the jet tip tool.
