How can I tell if I have bed bugs?

Many people first suspect a bed bug infestation after finding bite marks on their body. Bed bug bites look like red welts that bump up from your skin, and usually itch or burn.

Look for thin black streaks or small red spots along the seams and underside of your mattress. You might also find discarded skins in the corners of your bed frame or in the underside of your box spring.

Be very slow and thorough in your inspection. Bed bugs are very small and hard to spot, and they can fit just about anywhere a credit card can. They like to hide in small cracks and crevices, so check every seam of your bedding, mattress, and box spring, and carefully inspect any cracks or spaces in your walls and flooring.
