A common myth perpetuated online is that insecticides are completely ineffective against bed bugs. This idea that chemicals won’t work against bed bugs is usually followed by a recommendation for natural or alternative treatments. What would be really unnatural is if an insect were to become completely immune to every pesticide ever made.
While bed bugs can still be killed by pesticides, they have grown resistant to certain formulas. That’s why it’s important to use the newest formulas, not the old-school compounds that have been retired to the discount brands. JT Eaton Kills Bed Bugs ULTRA is one of the newest formula targeted specifically for bed bugs. This is a water-based spray with a proven dual-action formula that kills bed bugs on contact and leaves a long-lasting residual after it dries. Let’s check it out:
ULTRA Dual-Action Formula
JT Eaton isn’t new to making sprays and powders that are effective at killing bed bugs. Their oil-based contact spray was one of the first products on the market designed specifically to kill bed bugs rather than other indoor pests, and their aerosol-based JT Eaton Kills Bed Bugs Plus was the first dual-action formula that combined a quick knockdown with a long-lasting residual.
Now, JT Eaton has taken that same dual-action formula and released it in a high-volume, low-cost water-based solution. This new format requires no prep, is easier than ever to apply, and you aren’t paying for aerosol propellants in a can — the full volume of JT Eaton ULTRA bottles and gallons contain the active ingredient mixture.
The dual-action formula comprises of three active ingredients: pyrethrins, permethrin, and a synergist called PBO. Pyrethrins are organic compounds derived from the chrysanthemum flower. Pyrethrins have naturally evolved over time so they continue to deliver a fast knockdown to all kinds of insects, including bed bugs.
Permethrin is the second stage to JT Eaton ULTRA’s formula, a synthetic pyrethroid that kills on contact but leaves a dry residue when the spray evaporates that can keep killing for weeks after.
Both compounds are combined with a PBO synergist that inhibits the natural defense mechanisms that bed bugs use to defeat certain insecticides, ensuring that even the most resistant strains of bed bugs will still be affected by the formula.
Using JT Eaton Kills Bed Bugs ULTRA
JT Eaton ULTRA has been proven effective against bed bugs as well as cockroaches, ants, dust mites, fleas, ticks, and other household pests listed on its label. Even bed bug eggs can be killed by the long-lasting residue that is left behind for weeks after the initial application.
For use in a bed bug treatment, apply JT Eaton ULTRA as a spot treatment to cracks and crevices throughout the room, like the joints of the bed frame, the tufts and folds of the mattress and box spring, and along the headboard, footboard, baseboards, floorboards, and anywhere else where the wall meets the floor. It’s also a good idea to spray behind any picture frames or wall hangings and under the edges of the carpet if they’re easily accessible.
Be sure to shake the container thoroughly and spray from about 12 to 15 inches away from the spots you want to hit; we’re not looking to soak the surfaces that we’re treating, but we want an even and consistent application. The product label and MSDS have other application and safety instructions, so be sure to read and follow those for safe and effective usage.
Don’t use JT Eaton ULTRA or any other bed bug spray as a broad surface treatment; you don’t need to spray your bedding or saturate the mattress or box spring. A little bit goes a long way, and you only need it in those tight spaces bed bugs like to hide in.
You can wash your bedding as you normally would to treat them and use a vacuum and steamer to treat the mattress and box spring before spraying the small seams that bed bugs are likely to hide in. Then once the spray dries, you can seal the mattress and box spring with bed bug proof zippered encasements.
Since no spray treatment is likely to get rid of an infestation on its own, you’ll also want to follow the other steps in our proven 4-step solution, which includes isolating the bed and treating other parts of the room repeatedly.
JT Eaton ULTRA is lab-tested and proven to keep killing for up to 4 weeks, but it’s a good idea to use it during follow-up treatments every 2 weeks or so after the initial treatment — that way, you’re hitting any remaining bed bugs with that fast-acting knockdown again and ensuring that fresh product is on the surfaces of common hiding places throughout the room.
So that’s JT Eaton’s new ULTRA bed bug residual spray. This packs a proven dual-action contact and residual formula into a high-volume liquid solution. It comes in a small quart-sized bottle and a high-volume gallon container. Either way, this provides a great value per ounce which will come in handy over follow-up treatments, especially if you’re treating multiple rooms. For a modern bed bug treatment, you need a modern bed bug killing solution, and that’s what JT Eaton ULTRA delivers.
JT Eaton Kills Bed Bugs ULTRA (Residual Spray)
JT Eaton Kills Bed Bugs ULTRA combines fast-acting knockdown and long-lasting residual killing power in a water-based, dual-action solution. Its non-staining formulation can be applied to sofas, chairs, mattresses, curtains, and carpeting to kill bed bugs wherever they’re hiding.
