Bed Bug Supply Review - see what our experts have to say about this product

Of all the encasement brands we’ve reviewed SafeRest are by far the most advanced and highest quality on the market with full protection against bed bugs, fluids, dust mites and allergens. SafeRest was also tested with live bed bugs and are certified bed bug proof. Encasements are important as they seal off the mattress eliminating potential hiding places where bed bugs may reside. They also prevent bed bugs from escaping the encasement leading to their death by starvation. Another great feature offered by SafeRest is their high quality cotton terry surface material back coated with a breathable waterproof membrane layer, which does not sleep hot and makes no noise. Once installed, you can’t even tell that the encasement has been applied.

SafeRest Encasements offer two features not available on any other encasement. These features include their patent-pending 360° Secure Zipper feature, which prevents the end zipper traveler from pulling back by securing the zipper traveler with a Velcro flap. The other exclusive feature is their advanced Micro-Zipper, which prevents even the smallest infant bed bugs from passing through. SafeRest encasements are also triple stitched to protect the integrity of the seams.

Mattresses today are not cheap and should be protected to ensure years of use. Just one fluid spill or experience can ruin your mattresses, which is why premium encasements should be applied. Those with allergies or asthma will also benefit from the encasements ability to block dust mites and allergens from passing through resulting in improved air quality. Periodically wash the encasement to remove any dust mites resting on the surface of the encasements. SafeRest encasements are also vinyl and PVC free and offer a 10-year manufacture warranty.

Bed Bug Supply Team

Product Information

The first line of defense:

Bed bugs earned their name by being more commonly found hiding on or near the bed than anywhere else in infested homes. Bed bugs feed on human blood while their hosts are sleeping, then hide in a tight and secure place to rest, digest, and reproduce. If left unchecked, a small number of bed bugs with access to a nightly meal can multiply into an infestation in just a few weeks.

SafeRest mattress encasements and box spring encasements are essential to the process of making your bed bed bug proof. Bed bug encasements seal off the mattress and box spring, eliminating those common hiding places that bed bugs use to breed and to avoid treatment efforts.

Rather than disposing of expensive mattress sets, SafeRest bed bug proof encasements can be used to seal off the mattress and box spring, trapping any bed bugs inside and preventing them from escaping. Over time, these trapped bed bugs will die of starvation due to the lack of a blood source.

When designing their encasements for bed bugs, dust mites, and fluid protection, SafeRest selected only the finest materials and developed their own exclusive features. The result was a breathable, noiseless encasement that prevents bed bugs, bacteria, dust mites, and fluids from passing through.

This premium level of protection has helped thousands with allergies and asthma to improve their health by providing a more sterile and allergen free sleep environment. SafeRest encasements have also helped others to protect and treat their mattresses against bed bugs. Finally, those who suffer from heavy night sweating or have children, pets, or incontinence have benefitted from SafeRest's breathable waterproof design, which blocks all fluids from passing through.

Premium Features:

360 Degree Secure Micro Zipper
360° Secure Micro Zipper

SafeRest's patented zipper and enclosure completely seal your mattress on all six sides. The micro zipper spans three sides of the encasement for easy installation and removal.

The micro zipper's teeth that are too small and close together for bed bugs to fit through. The secure velcro enclosure seals off the end of the zipper to ensure there are no gaps that bed bugs can enter or escape through.

Premium Cotton Terry Cover
Premium Cotton Terry Surface

While other encasements use low-cost materials that rustle and retain heat, SafeRest's designers went out of their way to ensure that your sleep experience would be as quiet and comfortable as it would be without a mattress cover.

SafeRest Premium's cotton terry surface design is soft, smooth, and noiseless. Cotton terry naturally absorbs water while allowing air and heat to pass through, keeping your bed cool and dry.

Waterproof Membrane Layer
Waterproof Breathable Membrane

Protect your mattress from fluid spills like sweat and urine with SafeRest's exclusive membrane layer. This unique design blocks any fluids from reaching the mattress while still letting the mattress breathe to prevent heat buildup.

SafeRest's waterproof membrane is free of vinyl and PVC. It has no phthalates or fire retardant chemical treatments. It's perfect for children, allergy and asthma sufferers.

Installation:

Installing a SafeRest bed bug encasement is very simple, but may require two people since it involves lifting the mattress from the bed. Before you begin the installation, strip the mattress of all bedding, such as sheets and pillows, and remove the encasement from its packaging.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 1

With the help from another person, remove the mattress from the bed frame and lean it upright against the wall.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 2

Unzip the mattress encasement on all three sides and wrap the short, unzippered side over the top of the standing mattress.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 3

Gently pull the encasement down so that both sides of the mattress are covered, and begin closing the zipper.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 4

Set the mattress back down on the bed to finish closing the zipper, and use the velcro enclosure to seal off the end of the zipper.

Care and cleaning:

SafeRest's Premium encasements are designed to last for many years if cared for properly. By following the included care instructions, you'll be able to take advantage of all of the protection and health benefits offered by these encasements for the length of their 10-year warranty and beyond.

Note that SafeRest's 10-year warranty covers manufacturing and fabric defects, and will not cover damage caused by failing to adhere to the care instructions.

Wash on warm or hot setting

Wash the encasement with the rest of your bedding at 95° Celsius (200° Fahrenheit), usually reached by the medium or high heat setting of your washing machine.

Dry only on low heat

Tumble dry the encasement only on low heat to avoid damaging it. Temperatures over 55° Celsius (130° Fahrenheit) can melt or warp the waterproof membrane layer.

Do not iron or dry clean

Do not iron or dry clean the encasement. The high temperatures involved will melt the waterproof membrane layer, causing the encasement to no longer be waterproof.

Do not use bleach

Do not use bleach or fabric softener when laundering the encasement. Bleach, detergents containing bleach, and fabric softeners can damage the waterproof membrane layer.

Q: what is cal king?
Asked by: nalini - 11/10/2014
A:
A cal king is a California King size, which is 72 x 84". This differs from a regular king, which is 76" x 80".
Q: I plan to use a mattress and box spring encasement after steam cleaning for known bed bugs. Eventually I will get a new bed AFTER my place is negative for bed bugs. Could I use the old encasements on the NEW BED after steam cleaning the encasements several times OR should I just get brand new encasements? Thanks!
Asked by: CurtisMolley - 3/1/2015
A:
While you can use an old encasement on a new mattress, please do not steam clean the encasement. It should be machine washed only to ensure that the waterproof membrane layer isn't damaged.
Q: what kind of material? durable? soft?
Asked by: moni - 3/16/2015
A:
SafeRest Premium encasements feature a cotton terry sleeping surface with a breathable waterproof membrane layer underneath. It is very soft and cool to sleep on, and is about as durable as the rest of your bedding.
Q: The picture for 'Saferest" encasements shows sizes 9-13,13-15, The text shows 9-12, 12-15. Which is correct?
Asked by: mike - 4/23/2015
A:
The sizing listed on the page is correct. The picture shows older sizing ranges that have since been updated.
Q: I have a twin XL mattress that is 13.5" deep. Do you over an encasement to fit that?
Asked by: connie - 8/17/2015
A:
Unfortunately, we only offer Twin XL up to 12 inches. Twin XL mattresses that are taller than that are very uncommon, so we do not offer larger sizes for that.
Q: Do your covers fit California King Temprapedic Matresses?
Asked by: Jared - 10/8/2015
A:
Yes, as long as you measure the height of your mattress and purchase the appropriate encasement size.
Q: what is the micron count on these?
Asked by: shaun - 10/22/2015
A:
The pores are less than one micron in size. They're super sealed for waterproofing purposes.

Much Better Than Walmart
We made the mistake of purchasing encasements at Walmart, which ripped while we were putting them on, but at least they have a good return policy. So we took those back and tried SafeRest. The difference was very noticeable. The materials was 10 times thicker so we had not problem putting it on our thick mattress and the zippers were also made differently with cover for the zipper at the end. Some things are worth the money and after dealing with bed bugs we are happy we found SafeRest.

Great
Bed bugs are all over Ohio and we were advised on the local news to purchase a certified encasement for bed bugs, which we did with SafeRest. I read through the report, which was available on the bed bug supply website. The encasement arrived in a few days and was as described. We put it on and couldn't even notice it was on after applying. The folks at bed bug supply know their stuff and helped me choose what I needed.

Fit Our Thick Pillow Top
Finding an encasement to fit our this 15" mattress wasn't easy. This encasement however had not problem covering our beast of a mattress. The top was soft and my husband didn't notice it had been applied (he's normally picky about heat). Product arrived quickly and my daughter also purchased some from her bed after seeing ours. Great investment for a bed bug infested nation.

Mattress encasements
I love these - bought for guest room too. Precautionary, but I put cases on all my pillows too. Just dont want to have an issue and if this will help, I'm all for it. I like that one side has terry cloth type materials on it so you dont feel or hear the plastic in the product. When covered with a mattress pad and sheets, you don't know it is there. Generous size - sometimes with items like this they don't fit or don't fit well. These are great!

Bed Bug Matress Encasement
I bought this product due to allergies to dust mites. I compared this one to others from places like Bed Bath & Beyond and other online resources. This product had a great review and was less expensive than others I researched. I highly recommend this brand for keeping those dust mites away from you.

One of the better ones
I've purchased several Bed Bug Protectors over the years. Out of all the brands I've used, the zipper design on this one was the easiest to get the actual cover on the mattress. Zipper is sort of a hidden zipper as it zips around the mattress, which is excellent, but the end closure once it's zipped isn't the most secure. The material of this cover is very good, better than most. Some will enjoy the plush top, however for my purposes, I didn't. If you live in a cold climate, their plush top adds an extra layer to keep you warm. Since I live in a tropical climate, and have a cooling memory foam mattress it inhibits the mattress from doing what it's designed. The two sort of cancel each other out so It doesn't make me extra warm, but it adds too much insulation between the cover and the mattress for the cooling effect of the memory foam to absorb most of your body heat and wick it away. With that said, the fit of this cover is better than most. The material doesn't feel like plastic so it doesn't make noise when you move around. I've had some covers that either didn't fit well, made noise when you moved around, or trapped air inside and it would puff up momentarily when making the bed or getting into it. So it just made the mattress look odd. At the end of the day I'd recommend this cover. It's priced fairly well, shipping was fairly quick (even to Hawaii), and it is on the better quality end of other covers I've used. Just do your research and take all things into consideration when choosing the best cover for your needs.

I am very satisfied with the mattress encasement. It is sturdy and did not rip like some of the others do, so no need for duct tape!
