Bedlam spray for bed bugs is hands down the most popular bed bug spray for do-it-yourself applications and is widely used by professional pest control operators as well. Unlike other sprays for bed bugs, Bedlam is one of the only pesticides that treats not only live bed bugs, but can also inflict a high mortality rate on bed bug eggs as well.
Bedlam comes in a 17 oz. aerosol can and there are 6 cans per case. Bedlam is a point and shoot product with a small red straw attachment included that allows the user to gains access to cracks and crevice application. The straw also creates a foaming action, which is helpful when filling small voids evenly. I believe Bedlam is popular because it’s easy to use and no chemicals are needed to be mixed prior to application. The advantage of an aerosol versus a quart sprayer of pesticide is you can shoot from many different angles and broadcast areas that a quart sprayer cannot.
Bedlam can be sprayed on basically anything that can get wet and does not stain (also test a small area just to make sure). Popular surfaces that can be broadcast include mattresses, box springs, curtains, sofas, chair and between the carpet and the baseboards (using the included 5″ red straw attachment).
The disadvantages of Bedlam bed bug spray is the price per liquid ounce making it one of the most expensive bed bug pesticides available. Finding Bedlam is also difficult as it cannot be found in hardware stores or Home Depot. The best place to find Bedlam is online. Purchasing Bedlam by the case can bring down the price per ounce significantly.
Bedlam is not the miracle spray and is used in conjunction with mattress and box spring encasements, ClimbUp Insect Interceptors and diatomaceous earth (DE). Treating clothing in the dryer on high heat and using a PackTite heat treatment device is also recommended. Using Bedlam bed bug spray as a sole treatment will not work!
The active ingrediants are MGK®-264 (N-OctylBicyclohepteneDicarboximide) and d-Phenothrin (SUMITHRIN®). Please check with the full Bedlam MSDS for all information.
