The ThermalStrike is a new product that effectively harnesses heat to treat items that may have or have been exposed to bed bugs. We recently had a chance to test one out and were impressed by the designm size and affordability of the unit. Bed bugs are very sensitive to heat and have been proven to die with sustained heat of at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit within 1 hour. We were able to reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit inside an empty ThermalStrike in under 10 minutes with a room temperature of 74 degrees. Although it did heat up fast, small items need to be treated for at least 3-4 hours to ensure they fully reach and sustain temperatures of above 117 degrees (a fully packed suitcase can take up to 8 hours to fully treat).
The ThermalStrike Heat Box can fit most suitcases with a usable internal space of 31"x17"x21" making it great for those who travel often and who want to be sure they aren't bringing home any bed bugs. Shoes, handbags, books, papers, clothing and just about anything else can be safely treated inside the ThermalStrike (always read the manual for full product instructions).
We are very pleased with the performance of the ThermalStrike and it only took us 4 minutes to setup and start using the unit. The sub $200 price point also makes it more affordable for many families. It can also pay for itself during a bed bug infestation by allowing you to treat infested items effectively without having to throw them away. When using the unit always place items that are to be treated inside the included bags and close off with the included twist ties. This prevents bed bugs from escaping during treatment as the unit is not sealed.
We offer an optional temperature probe, which can be used to accurately gauge the inside temperature of items for peace of mind. To use the optional gauge, simply place the probe in the innermost section of the contents being treated and run the wire out of the ThermalStrike (through the top). This allows you read the inside temperature on a digital screen from the outside of the unit. Once the gauge hits 117 degrees Fahrenheit in the innermost portion of the items treated set your watch for 45 minutes and your done!
Description
Heat has been used for decades to prevent and treat infestations. Bed bugs have a thermal death point of 45 °C. Our systems surrounds the contents with wall temperature between 48 - 58°C creating a thermal enviroment that is leathal to bed bugs.
ThermalStrike Technology:
Our patent pending heating system is different from anything on the market. The system uses a ultra-thin heating system which uniformally delivers heat across the outside surfaces of the container.
Advantages:
Heat is evenly delivered around the permeter and floor of the box allowing it to safely operate at more uniform temperatures.
Contents can be loaded right to the edge which simplies loading
Ultra-thin system means it takes up less space than systems which pass air around
How long does it take?
This is a common question and unfortunately, it's like asking how long does it take to cook a turkey on Thanksgiving - it depends on the contents. Our systems are tested with fully packed suitcases as well as garbage bags full of clothes. Our recommended guidelines are a minimum of eight hours to provide enough time to ensure that heat has penetrated through the enclosure.
Alternatively, an optional remote thermometer may be used to monitor temperatures inside the contents. The system should remain powered after the remote thermometer reaches 120°F.

Fits My Suitcase And More Importantly Works
We have a larger suitcase and the thermal strike fit it perfect with extra space. Its a good value compared to other alternatives and you can fold it back up and store it under the bed when your not using it. I travel for business a lot so an item like them is a must.

Works Well Make Sure You Get The Probe
We purchased the Thermalstike without the temp. probe, but quickly found out it's needed unless you want to let it run for a full 8 hours per cycle. With the probe you know what the temp is inside and can stop it 45 minutes after it reaches above 120. F. The thermal strike works like a champ and helped get us through a large room of books.
