Bed Bug Supply Review - see what our experts have to say about this product

Of all the encasement brands we’ve reviewed SafeRest are by far the most advanced and highest quality on the market with full protection against bed bugs, fluids, dust mites and allergens. SafeRest was also tested with live bed bugs and are certified bed bug proof. Encasements are important as they seal off the mattress eliminating potential hiding places where bed bugs may reside. They also prevent bed bugs from escaping the encasement leading to their death by starvation. Another great feature offered by SafeRest is their high quality cotton terry surface material back coated with a breathable waterproof membrane layer, which does not sleep hot and makes no noise. Once installed, you can’t even tell that the encasement has been applied.

SafeRest Encasements offer two features not available on any other encasement. These features include their patent-pending 360° Secure Zipper feature, which prevents the end zipper traveler from pulling back by securing the zipper traveler with a Velcro flap. The other exclusive feature is their advanced Micro-Zipper, which prevents even the smallest infant bed bugs from passing through. SafeRest encasements are also triple stitched to protect the integrity of the seams.

Mattresses today are not cheap and should be protected to ensure years of use. Just one fluid spill or experience can ruin your mattresses, which is why premium encasements should be applied. Those with allergies or asthma will also benefit from the encasements ability to block dust mites and allergens from passing through resulting in improved air quality. Periodically wash the encasement to remove any dust mites resting on the surface of the encasements. SafeRest encasements are also vinyl and PVC free and offer a 10-year manufacture warranty.

Bed Bug Supply Team

Product Information

The first line of defense:

Bed bugs earned their name by being more commonly found hiding on or near the bed than anywhere else in infested homes. Bed bugs feed on human blood while their hosts are sleeping, then hide in a tight and secure place to rest, digest, and reproduce. If left unchecked, a small number of bed bugs with access to a nightly meal can multiply into an infestation in just a few weeks.

SafeRest mattress encasements and box spring encasements are essential to the process of making your bed bed bug proof. Bed bug encasements seal off the mattress and box spring, eliminating those common hiding places that bed bugs use to breed and to avoid treatment efforts.

Rather than disposing of expensive mattress sets, SafeRest bed bug proof encasements can be used to seal off the mattress and box spring, trapping any bed bugs inside and preventing them from escaping. Over time, these trapped bed bugs will die of starvation due to the lack of a blood source.

When designing their encasements for bed bugs, dust mites, and fluid protection, SafeRest selected only the finest materials and developed their own exclusive features. The result was a breathable, noiseless encasement that prevents bed bugs, bacteria, dust mites, and fluids from passing through.

This premium level of protection has helped thousands with allergies and asthma to improve their health by providing a more sterile and allergen free sleep environment. SafeRest encasements have also helped others to protect and treat their mattresses against bed bugs. Finally, those who suffer from heavy night sweating or have children, pets, or incontinence have benefitted from SafeRest's breathable waterproof design, which blocks all fluids from passing through.

Premium Features:

360 Degree Secure Micro Zipper
360° Secure Micro Zipper

SafeRest's patented zipper and enclosure completely seal your mattress on all six sides. The micro zipper spans three sides of the encasement for easy installation and removal.

The micro zipper's teeth that are too small and close together for bed bugs to fit through. The secure velcro enclosure seals off the end of the zipper to ensure there are no gaps that bed bugs can enter or escape through.

Premium Cotton Terry Cover
Premium Cotton Terry Surface

While other encasements use low-cost materials that rustle and retain heat, SafeRest's designers went out of their way to ensure that your sleep experience would be as quiet and comfortable as it would be without a mattress cover.

SafeRest Premium's cotton terry surface design is soft, smooth, and noiseless. Cotton terry naturally absorbs water while allowing air and heat to pass through, keeping your bed cool and dry.

Waterproof Membrane Layer
Waterproof Breathable Membrane

Protect your mattress from fluid spills like sweat and urine with SafeRest's exclusive membrane layer. This unique design blocks any fluids from reaching the mattress while still letting the mattress breathe to prevent heat buildup.

SafeRest's waterproof membrane is free of vinyl and PVC. It has no phthalates or fire retardant chemical treatments. It's perfect for children, allergy and asthma sufferers.

Installing a SafeRest bed bug encasement is very simple, but may require two people since it involves lifting the mattress from the bed. Before you begin the installation, strip the mattress of all bedding, such as sheets and pillows, and remove the encasement from its packaging.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 1

With the help from another person, remove the mattress from the bed frame and lean it upright against the wall.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 2

Unzip the mattress encasement on all three sides and wrap the short, unzippered side over the top of the standing mattress.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 3

Gently pull the encasement down so that both sides of the mattress are covered, and begin closing the zipper.

SafeRest Encasement Install, Part 4

Set the mattress back down on the bed to finish closing the zipper, and use the velcro enclosure to seal off the end of the zipper.

Care and cleaning:

SafeRest's Premium encasements are designed to last for many years if cared for properly. By following the included care instructions, you'll be able to take advantage of all of the protection and health benefits offered by these encasements for the length of their 10-year warranty and beyond.

Note that SafeRest's 10-year warranty covers manufacturing and fabric defects, and will not cover damage caused by failing to adhere to the care instructions.

Wash on warm or hot setting

Wash the encasement with the rest of your bedding at 95° Celsius (200° Fahrenheit), usually reached by the medium or high heat setting of your washing machine.

Dry only on low heat

Tumble dry the encasement only on low heat to avoid damaging it. Temperatures over 55° Celsius (130° Fahrenheit) can melt or warp the waterproof membrane layer.

Do not iron or dry clean

Do not iron or dry clean the encasement. The high temperatures involved will melt the waterproof membrane layer, causing the encasement to no longer be waterproof.

Do not use bleach

Do not use bleach or fabric softener when laundering the encasement. Bleach, detergents containing bleach, and fabric softeners can damage the waterproof membrane layer.

Questions and Answers

Q: will the breathable polyurathan undercoat let my cooling get get through?
Asked by: Diane - 1/11/2014
Yes, the breathable undercoat allows airflow to pass through, keeping the sleeping surface cool and dry.
Q: Will this be to deep for a sleeper sofa mattress of about a 5" height? Do you sell any futon covers that would not be so deep and fit the mattress height better?
Asked by: CN - 4/1/2014
Unfortunately, we don't offer encasements for a mattress that thin at this time.
Q: What is the actual weight in ounces or grams of the twin-sized sheet. I will be backpacking with it and the accurate weight is very important to me. Thx!
Asked by: Jo - 4/1/2014
My digital scale puts a full-sized mattress encasement right at 30 ounces. A twin-sized encasement should be roughly the same weight, since most of the weight is in the zipper and coating, rather than the extra fabric.
Q: My new foam mattress is only 6 inches think. If I order the 9 inch thick encasement, will it fit snug over the 6 inch foam mattress?
Asked by: Jeff Meyer - 6/26/2014
While it won't fit snug, you won't be swimming in it either. It will be a good fit, and putting fitted bed sheets over it will help flatten out any excess fabric.
Q: 1. Do you have twin size mattress encasement fits 4" height, 39" x 75" twin size mattress. 2. Do Saferest mattress encasements on have the same quality as ones on this website?
Asked by: amy linn - 8/6/2014
SafeRest doesn't make encasements that would properly fit mattresses under 6" tall. You could use the 6-9" size, and it would function correctly, but there would be some excess material. As for Amazon, all SafeRest products come from the same factory and the same importing and distribution process, so they are all of the same quality.
Q: Both my mattress and box spring are an inch shy of 9 inches high. Should I size up to the next available size for a loose fit?
Asked by:  - 10/25/2014
Simply select the 6-9" size for both the mattress and box spring encasement as your mattress is within those parameters. It will fit nicely.
Q: WHat is the difference betwenn regular twin and extra large, what are the dimension. My mom has a hospital bed thta's why I am asking?
Asked by: Maria - 5/7/2015
Twin mattress encasements are 38 x 75 inches long, while Twin XL encasements are 38 x 80 inches long.
Q: Will the standard queen sized mattress cover be big enough for a pillow top mattress? I don't see an option for deeper mattresses.
Asked by: vtodd - 6/5/2015
There is no "standard" mattress height, so you will need to measure the height of your pillow top. You can see all of the height ranges available here:
Q: I have split box spring queen size ...9×30×79 what should I order for encasements?
Asked by: debc - 12/26/2015
Unfortunately, SafeRest does not currently offer encasements for split queen box springs. Your best bet would be to encase both halves in a single queen box spring encasement.
Q: Hi I have a 5" low profile box springs that is one piece so I cant use the spit cover for my Cal King. So I was wondering can this 6-9" mattress encasement be used for my 5" cal king one piece box spring? Thank you
Asked by: rose - 7/22/2016
Yes, you can use a 6-9" mattress encasement in that case. It'll be a little loose on the sides, but since it's on a box spring you can just tuck the excess fabric between the box spring and the mattress on top.

Bed Bug Protector
We have an expensive mattress and though it would be best to protect it. The encasement was easy to put on and saved our mattress from a pet fluid accident. The people at bed bug supply know there stuff and were very helpful. I would also purchase the climbup insect interceptors to go with the encasement for full protection.

The One To Buy
We live in new york and the bed bugs are terrible. We purchased this to protect our mattress about a year ago and my wife brought home bed bugs from her work. The encasement protected the mattress and box spring and the treatment was much easier (saved our bed!). Money well spent, high quality, can't tell it's there! Best buy!

Happy Customer
I can't say enough good things about these encasements. I put them on my bed after being bitten every night for a month and they are now gone. I guess I got lucky as they never spread, but they did do the job. The quality is awesome and I'm still using the encasements as I have allergies and a cat that occasionally pees on my bed. I also like the 10 year warranty. 5 stars and I think everyone should have one on their bed.

Product came in just 2 days and exceeded the quality of what we expected. The zipper feature at the end gave us peace of mind and it was easy to put on with a zipper that opened on 3 sides. Going to tell others about this great product and company. Keep up the good work!

very good product, doing its job nicely, since I put this on my bed last month, I have not had any issues or fears with bedbugs, it was a bit pricey I thought, but very happy with the product. Very comfortable to be on especially when used with other bed sheets and warm clothing, I just wish they sold that sort of thing other here in England.
